The "Denkmal" trade fair has been held in Leipzig for 30 years. This is where experts discuss the preservation and restoration of monuments. The regional minister considers it an "indispensable forum".

The "Denkmal" trade fair celebrates the opening of its anniversary edition with Regional Development Minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU). "As the responsible minister, I am particularly pleased that the leading European trade fair for monument preservation and restoration is at home in Saxony's trade fair city of Leipzig," said Schmidt in a statement. It has developed into an indispensable forum in specialist circles.

The trade fair for the preservation, restoration and refurbishment of old buildings takes place every two years at the Leipzig Trade Fair Center and is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. From 7 to 9 November, national and international experts will gather there - including specialized craft businesses, restorers and architects. This year's thematic focal points include climate protection and sustainability, digitalization and the protection of cultural heritage in emergency situations. The trade fair program includes around 190 events.

On Friday, the first Saxon Monument Preservation Prize, which was awarded by the three Saxon Chambers of Crafts, will also be presented. Schmidt is the patron of the prize. It honors craft businesses that have made outstanding achievements in the field of monument preservation in recent years.
