There has been a change of command at the Army Officer Training School: The leadership was handed over to Brigadier General Stephan Willer on Thursday, as announced by the Bundeswehr. A ceremonial roll call was held in the Graf Stauffenberg Barracks in Dresden.
Willer is the eleventh commander of the officer school since it was established in Dresden, taking over from Brigadier General Olaf Rohde, who will head the training command in Leipzig from the end of September. Most recently, Willer was Director of the Training and Development Department of the NATO mission in Iraq and, before that, Brigade Commander of Panzerbrigade 21 "Lipperland" in Augustdorf until February 2023.
The Army Officer School in Dresden is the central training facility for all officer candidates and officers of the German land forces. It was relocated from Hanover to Dresden in 1998.
