Fountains, water features and fountains adorn many of Dresden's squares and parks. Most of them are installed in spring and the fountain season lasts until fall - including famous creations.

Due to the tight budget, most of Dresden's municipal fountains and water features will remain dry this summer. According to the city hall, only eight fountains will be open for the season in April, as there is significantly less money than usual available for this area for reasons of economy and investments in the maintenance and safety of municipal playgrounds and trees stressed by increasing climate change have priority. The famous Pusteblumenbrunnen fountain from the GDR era in the city center is one of those that will be allowed to bubble again - alongside year-round facilities such as the Artesian Fountain in Neustadt.

With over 300 fountains and water features, "Florence on the Elbe", as Dresden is also known, is one of the cities with the most fountains in Germany. The municipality is responsible for 99 of them - fountains and drinking fountains or fountains that often adorn parks or squares. The "Stille Wasser" and "Stürmische Wogen" fountains by Robert Diez from the 19th century in Neustadt are also striking - like many others, they will not be battling the traffic on Albertplatz until October.
