The exploratory talks between the CDU, BSW and SPD for a possible government formation in Saxony have been interrupted for the time being. The SPD halted further talks after BSW MPs voted partly in favor of a motion by the AfD parliamentary group to set up a committee of inquiry into the coronavirus pandemic.
"There is a need for internal clarification after today's plenary session," said an SPD spokesperson. The planned talks have therefore been interrupted for the time being.
BSW Chairwoman Sabine Zimmermann explained: "We were just about to meet with representatives of the CDU and SPD in the working group on health and social affairs to set the right course for Saxony's healthcare system when the SPD suddenly declared the exploratory talks to be interrupted." The BSW politician accused the SPD of damaging the state. She called on the Social Democrats to return to the negotiating table "as quickly as possible".
