The Görlitz CDU district leader Florian Oest has been nominated as a candidate for the upcoming Bundestag elections. A public constituency members' general meeting in Tauchritz approved the nomination, the district association announced. Accordingly, the 37-year-old lawyer and business economist will run in constituency 156 - Görlitz.
The father of two comes from Görlitz and has been CDU district chairman and district councillor since 2019. According to his own statements, his focus is on expanding the high-speed train connection from Berlin via Weißwasser to Görlitz, shaping the phase-out of lignite and improving economic and social policy. "Germany needs a fresh start and the district of Görlitz finally needs a member of the Bundestag again who will give our region a strong voice in Berlin," said Oest.
