The election of the local council of Hennersdorf (district of Central Saxony) must be repeated. The reason given by the municipal supervisory authority is a violation of the neutrality requirement. The problem: postal voters were supposed to collect their documents in a room that had previously been used as a storage room and contained an explosive piece of waste - a CDU poster for the 2019 state election.
This was also noticed during the election audit. But by the time the room was cleaned up, ten voters had already collected their documents. "An influence on the voting decision of the ten voters cannot be ruled out", it was now stated. The requirement of electoral equality was an essential electoral regulation that had been violated as a result.
There were six seats up for grabs on the Hennersdorf local council. Two were won by the CDU, four went to a voters' association. A total of 494 votes were cast. 30 of these - each voter had three votes - could have been cast under the influence of the CDU poster.
