The Saxon CDU will adopt its government program for the state elections on 1 September in Löbau on Saturday (10:00 a.m.). It is entitled "Because it's about Saxony" and sets out the CDU's positions on 74 pages. The focus is on topics such as education and training, internal security and strengthening rural areas. For example, the last year of nursery school is to be introduced as a free pre-school year and the bonus for master craftsman training is to be doubled. On the subject of migration, the Saxony CDU wants to advocate an upper limit of 60,000 people per year in Germany. For Saxony, this would mean taking in 3,000 refugees. Stationary border controls should remain.

CDU Secretary General Alexander Dierks had formulated his party's ambition to once again become the strongest force in the Free State despite its defeat to the AfD in the European and local elections. In the European elections, the Union finished ten percentage points behind the AfD. 200 delegates are represented at the party conference in Löbau.
