Tension is mounting in the election of the Minister President in the Saxon state parliament. The votes from the first ballot are currently being counted.

The members of the Saxon state parliament have cast their votes. This concludes the first round of voting for the election of the Prime Minister, and the votes are now being counted. 120 MPs were called upon to cast their votes by secret ballot. Michael Kretschmer (CDU) remained in the chamber during the count.
