The wave of resignations from the Green Youth continues. In some federal states, almost the entire board has left the youth organization or announced its resignation.

The crisis in the Green Party is also reverberating in Saxony. Half of the members of the state board of the Green Youth want to leave the up-and-coming organization, the board announced. However, four of the eight board members will remain in the Green Youth structures. The eight-member board will remain in office until the state members' meeting on October 26 and 27 in Görlitz. According to the Green Youth Saxony, it currently has 520 members.

"It is very important to us as the state board to live up to the responsibility we took on a year ago when we took office. All members of the state executive committee will fulfill this responsibility until the regular election of the new state executive committee and will be members of the Green Youth Saxony," said executive committee member Luise Schmiedichen to the German Press Agency in Dresden. A new board will then be elected in Görlitz at the end of October.

"We offer the membership many spaces and opportunities to shape the content of the Green Youth Saxony, to determine what we talk about, what motions we put forward and how the Green Youth Saxony will align itself in the next association year," Schmiedichen emphasized. There is already interest in candidates for the board. "We are very confident about our state membership meeting."

The poor performance of the Greens in the recent state elections had triggered a crisis in the party. In protest against its course, the federal executive of the Green Youth announced that it would leave the party and found a new left-wing youth association. This also triggered a wave of resignations in the state associations of the youth organization.
