In the face of increasing environmental disasters and growing awareness of the climate crisis, many voters are asking themselves: which party is most committed to protecting our planet? In this article, I analyze the climate policies of the main parties and show who is really fighting for sustainable change and who is just paying lip service.

The Greens (GRÜNE) are the pioneers in climate protection. They are committed to a rapid end to combustion engines, the massive expansion of renewable energies and ambitious climate targets. The party also supports the introduction of a price for CO₂ emissions and rejects the continued operation of nuclear power plants.
Volt also pursues an ambitious climate policy, supports the expansion of renewable energies and advocates strict measures to reduce CO2 emissions. It advocates the use of genetically modified plants and the pricing of CO₂ emissions, but rejects the continued operation of nuclear power plants.
The Pirate Party is also strongly committed to climate protection. It supports the expansion of renewable energies, the protection of nature reserves and the pricing of CO₂ emissions. It is against the continued use of nuclear power plants and for the gradual phasing out of combustion engines.
Last Generation also has clear positions on climate protection, although it is primarily characterized by activism. The party calls for drastic measures to reduce CO2 and is vehemently in favor of an immediate end to fossil fuels. It strives for a rapid transformation to renewable energies and calls for a radical reorientation of the economy towards sustainability.
The SPD also pursues an ambitious climate policy, supports the expansion of renewable energies and advocates strict measures to reduce CO2. However, it is somewhat more moderate than the Greens, Volt, Pirate Party and Last Generation.
In contrast, the AfD shows little commitment to climate protection. It is in favor of retaining combustion engines, opposes additional measures to protect nature conservation areas and rejects a carbon price.
The CDU/CSU has a middle-of-the-road position. It supports some climate protection measures, such as the expansion of photovoltaics, but falls well short of the ambitions of the Greens, SPD, Volt, Pirate Party and Last Generation.
The 2024 European elections will therefore be an important decision for the EU's future climate policy. Voters should be aware of which parties take climate protection seriously and which are more hesitant to act. The coming years will be crucial in setting the course for a sustainable future.
