The strongly conservative Heimatunion within the Saxon CDU welcomes the end of a governing coalition with the Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) alliance and the SPD. "The current situation opens up a great opportunity for our home state: a minority government that consistently pursues Saxony's interests free of ideological blinkers and continues the success story of the Free State," explained Chairman Sven Eppinger.
The script for this is the CDU's government program, all members of the Saxon state parliament are invited, emphasized Eppinger, not excluding the parliamentarians of the AfD, the Left and the Greens. "We are convinced that on this basis, changing majorities will be found for all sensible projects in the state parliament."
According to Eppinger, the withdrawal of the BSW from the exploratory talks has confirmed the previous assessment of the Heimatunion that "the BSW is not concerned with the welfare of the Free State, but with its own ideological interests".
