The "Leipzig Shows Courage" festival is a symbol of democracy, cosmopolitanism, courage and diversity in Leipzig. On April 30, numerous musicians will take to the stage of Leipzig's Moritzbastei, as announced by the organizers, the socio-cultural center Anker and the city. Before the musical program, associations will introduce themselves at the "Market of Democracy".
Singer-songwriters Mine and Rose May Alaba and the band Marathonmann are among those expected to perform at the free open-air event. In the past, various Leipzig associations and initiatives have repeatedly used the event to position themselves against right-wing views.
The organizing team also includes "Prinzen" frontman Sebastian Krumbiegel, who comes from Leipzig. "It pains me to have to say that the festival becomes more important every year because fascism is becoming more and more prevalent." Krumbiegel emphasized that he is happy to live in Leipzig. "The city is a beacon for cosmopolitanism."
Krumbiegel himself does not normally appear as an artist at the festival. This year, however, he wants to make an exception. He is planning a song for Berit Lahm, who helped organize the festival for the city of Leipzig for many years and died last year.
