In the coming days, long columns of the German Armed Forces will be on the road from the Altmark to Bavaria. Road users are asked to pay particular attention.

On Thursday and Friday, a large military unit from northern Saxony-Anhalt will roll through parts of Saxony and Thuringia towards Bavaria. According to the Bundeswehr Territorial Command in Berlin, the 231 Mountain Infantry Battalion from Bad Reichenhall in Upper Bavaria will conclude the "European Falcon 2024" exercise with this journey. The route leads a good 700 kilometers from the Altmark military training area via Weißenfels in southern Saxony-Anhalt to the home barracks of the Bundeswehr unit.

Together, around 150 wheeled vehicles will be on the road, divided into several groups. The marching columns are reportedly over three kilometers long and travel relatively slowly along freeways and main roads.

The Bundeswehr is asking road users to pay particular attention. "The greatest possible distance should be maintained from the columns of vehicles. For safety reasons, road users should also avoid driving between individual vehicles."
