4:2 after 0:2: Dynamo Dresden defeats Energie Cottbus

Promoted team Energie Cottbus missed out on their first point in the 3rd soccer league. The Lusatians lost 4-2 (2-2) at Dynamo Dresden after leading 2-0. Energie had taken an early lead through Phil Halbauer (8) and Tolcay Cigerci (12). Stefan Kutschke (26) converted a penalty and Tony Menzel (31) equalized before the break in front of 30,795 spectators in the sold-out Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion. Robin Meißner (78') dusted off the ball for the preliminary decision before Philip Heise (90.+1) marked the final score.

Dynamo coach Thomas Stamm made just one change to the starting line-up compared to the 2-1 win at Viktoria Köln. Captain Kutschke came into the starting line-up in place of Christoph Daferner. Energie had to do without coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz, who was suspended. His deputy Tobias Röder sent out the same team that lost 2-1 to Arminia Bielefeld last week.

Cottbus assault Dynamo

The newly promoted side from Lusatia started courageously with a good plan. When they won the ball, they launched a raid with eight men into the opposing half, causing confusion for Dynamo, who lacked control. The lead resulted from a corner that was deflected too short, the 2:0 was a 40-meter flick from Cigerci into the empty goal. Keeper Tim Schreiber had served the scorer with a capital misplaced pass.

Dynamo come back quickly

You had to fear for the hosts, who had frightening coordination problems in defense and were slow and unimaginative in their build-up play. It wasn't until the penalty - Maximilian Pronichev had held Claudio Kammerknecht's shirt - that the Saxons woke up and quickly equalized thanks to a great counter-attack. Dynamo were still unlucky in this wild first half when Niko Bretschneider prolonged a header from Aljaz Casar to the bottom edge of the crossbar of his own goal (45.+1)

Dresden power play after the break

After the break, it was all Dynamo at first. Energie were pinned back in their own half for 20 minutes. Menzel was repeatedly involved in the opportunities that arose. However, substitute Daferner (68) had the best chance when he slipped past a low cross from Robin Meißner. Cottbus were on the lookout for counter-attacking opportunities, but there were hardly any. In the end, Meißner's header after a near-goal by Henry Rorig and Heise's solo goal deservedly decided the game for the hosts.
