The Niners Chemnitz basketball team coped superbly with their elimination from the Champions League. The charges of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore won their German league home game against Veolia Towers Hamburg by a commanding 69:60 (31:23) thanks to a strong performance in defense. Aher Uguak (17), Victor Bailey Jr. (16) and Oliver Nkamhoua (10) played the biggest part in the ninth win of the season, with which the club from Saxony cemented its sixth place in the table. Kur Kuath (16), Brae Ivey (14), Kenneth Ogbe and Jordan Barnett (10 each) scored the most points for the Hanseatic club.
The home side needed around five minutes to get up to operating temperature. After trailing 3:7 in the 4th minute, the Niners pulled 15:9 (8th) to 29:19 (18th) and never trailed again after that. Hamburg fought its way back to 30:33 (24'), but the club from Saxony produced an 11:2 run to make it 44:32 (27') and extend its lead to 58:41 (33'). The home side primarily benefited from its better shooting percentage from the floor in its victory. 44 percent of Chemnitz's attempts landed in Hamburg's basket. The visitors hit a meagre 32 percent from the field.
