Dresden women's volleyball team loses to Potsdam

The Dresdner SC women's volleyball team started the new season with a defeat. Coach Alexander Waibl's team lost 0:3 (24:26, 20:25, 22:25) to championship runner-up SC Potsdam in front of 2751 spectators. Thus, the six-time German champion could not defeat its "opening curse" and lost the first game for the fifth time in a row, including the fourth time against Potsdam. "We lost the game in attack, we still lack the necessary coordination. In contrast, Potsdam has already acted very compactly," assessed Alexander Waibl, who was honored for his 500th game for the DSC before the match.

Both teams delivered a hot exchange of blows at eye level from the beginning. In the first set, the hosts had set themselves apart with pressure-filled tasks and good block and field defense with 20:13. But then the game broke down and the Potsdam team came back point by point. After the Waibl protégés had not used two set points, it was the Potsdamer diagonal attacker Tara Taubner, who used the first chance for the Brandenburgerinnen.

Also in the sections two and three the happening swayed again and again back and forth, but in the crucial situations the guests showed up in the attack clearly more penetrating and also in acceptance and defense around a tick stronger than the Dresdnerinnen. After 79 minutes, the guests converted the first match point to win.
