RB Leipzig does not want to get out of the results crisis with new players. For the sporting director, that would just be an unnecessary reflex.

Despite the poor start to the new year with two consecutive defeats, Bundesliga club RB Leipzig do not want to become active on the transfer market again. "It would be too easy to fall into that trap if you don't win the games," said sporting director Rouven Schröder after the 3-2 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday evening. The team is strong enough, they have a good squad. "They now need a sense of achievement."

Leipzig have lost three players from their already not very full squad in Emil Forsberg (New York), Timo Werner (Tottenham) and Fabio Carvalho (early end of loan). The only addition to the squad so far is midfielder Eljif Elmas, who was signed for €23 million from SSC Napoli.

Including the 1-1 draw at Werder Bremen just before Christmas, Leipzig have not won in three Bundesliga games. On Saturday, the fourth-placed Saxons face Stuttgart, who are currently third. VfB have also lost both games in 2024.
