Leipzig (dpa) -
Bremen as favorite opponents
Even though RB Leipzig failed to win their last two games against Werder (1:1 in each), Bremen are one of the Saxons' favorite opponents. In 14 Bundesliga games so far, they have won ten and lost just two. Bremen are the strongest away team behind Bayern - yet Werder, just two points behind the fourth-placed Saxons in the table, have never won in Leipzig.
Werder on a roll
The team coached by Ole Werner has been on a roll of late, losing just once in their last seven competitive matches - 1-0 in Frankfurt. Leipzig, on the other hand, were winless in November and only managed to turn things around with a 3-0 win in the DFB Cup against Eintracht Frankfurt. They then went on to win 2-0 in Kiel and 2-1 in the league against Eintracht before suffering another heavy setback with a 5-1 defeat in Munich.
Returner at RB
After David Raum celebrated his comeback at FC Bayern, he is now expected to be in the starting eleven. Xavi Simons is also likely to return to action for the first time after a long injury layoff, albeit only with a proportionate amount of playing time, as was the case when Xaver Schlager returned recently.
Duell of the counter-attacking teams
Leipzig v Bremen is a duel between two strong counter-attacking teams. No team in the Bundesliga has created as many goalscoring chances from counter-attacks as RB (26). Bremen are third in the statistics (20). However, the Saxons have yet to concede a goal following a counter-attacking move by their opponents this season.
Rose has a strong Bremen record
RB coach Marco Rose has never lost to Bremen. In eight games against SVW, he has won five times and achieved three draws. On the other hand, Ole Werner has never won against RB in his Bundesliga record as a coach (two draws, two defeats).
