Bundesliga handball club ThSV Eisenach will have to look for a new coach for next season. The Thuringians' successful coach, Misha Kaufmann, has asked the club to terminate his contract, which runs until June 2027, early.
"After consultation with all relevant bodies and due to Misha Kaufmann's great sporting achievements, the club is complying with this request," ThSV announced. According to media reports, TBV Stuttgart will be Kaufmann's new place of work.
There had been rumors about the 40-year-old Swiss player for weeks. According to a ThSV statement, Kaufmann approached the club on November 9 with the request to terminate his contract with ThSV Eisenach, which runs until June 30, 2027, on June 30, 2025. The decision to change was irrevocable.
Kaufmann had taken over ThSV as a second division club in October 2021. In 2023, the club was promoted to the Bundesliga and remained in the second division, which was hardly thought possible. This season, the Thuringians are playing strongly and are currently in ninth place after 14 games with a balanced points account.
