For the first time in eight years, SG Dynamo Dresden and FC Energie Cottbus will meet this Friday (19:00/ MagentaSport) in an explosive East German clash. The match in the 3rd Football League at the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in Dresden has been sold out for days with 32,000 spectators. The match will take place under heavy security precautions due to the rival fans of both clubs.
Hosts Dynamo kicked off the championship of Germany's third-highest professional division with a 2:1 win against FC Viktoria Köln. The visitors from Lusatia had lost 2-1 at the start. In addition, coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz was shown a red card against Arminia Bielefeld and was therefore banned from the derby.
