Erzgebirge Aue remained unbeaten for the third game in a row. The third-division soccer team won 1:0 (0:0) against Arminia Bielefeld at home in the Erzgebirge Stadium on Saturday, recording their twelfth home win of the season. Marco Schikora scored in the 76th minute in front of 8790 spectators. Aue thus moved up to sixth place in the table. However, promotion is no longer possible for the Veilchen and they will play in the third division for the third year in a row for the first time.
Bielefeld created three dangerous chances to score in the first ten minutes and were the more active team. In the 15th minute, Can Özkan took a strong shot that Martin Männel could only deflect past the goal with a strong flying save. Just three minutes later, almost the same scene took place at the other end through Tim Danhof. Overall, 0-0 at the break was a fair result, even if Arminia were the slightly better team.
The first quarter of an hour after the restart was uneventful. Only a slip-up from Marvin Stefaniak woke Bielefeld up and Leandro Putaro tried to curl the ball into the left corner of the goal - Männel saved. Marco Schikora (76) took the lead out of nowhere. After a free-kick from Stefaniak, Schikora artistically steered the ball into the net with his left shoulder. Things got turbulent again in the 87th minute: Erik Majetschak was celebrating, but his ball was not completely behind the line. Bielefeld then launched a counter-attack and the ball was in the goal - but it was offside. So it remained 1-0.
