Top striker Luca Schuler attaches enormous importance to a promotion of 1. FC Magdeburg to the Bundesliga. "That would be a dream. We already made history last year by staying in the 2nd division," the 24-year-old said in an interview with "Kicker." "And of course it would be brutally good for the club and the city if FCM were to make it to the Bundesliga at some point." So far he thinks at the moment but not yet.
The FCM is after a strong start to the season third in the 2nd Bundesliga and as one of three teams still unbeaten. Schuler is also flourishing this season. After five games, the attacker has four goals and one assist. Thus, he is already clearly better than in the preseason, where he played only twelve games due to injuries.
As a key to the promotion, Schuler sees to call off a good performance every week. "What teams fail at is the insane consistency you need to stay at the top," the striker said. In the team, he said, they did not set their sights on a place in the standings. They want to try "to have nothing more to do with relegation as soon as possible. Everything else is bonus."
