According to honorary president Uli Hoeneß, Max Eberl's departure from Bundesliga soccer club RB Leipzig is not connected with a possible move to FC Bayern Munich. "The fact is that there is no agreement between FC Bayern and Max Eberl," Hoeneß told the "Kicker" on Sunday. The separation of Eberl and RB is exclusively a matter of the two parties, everything else is according to the 71-year-old Hoeneß an insinuation.
Rumors have already lasted longer that the Bavarians want to reoccupy the post of sports director in the future. A successor to Hasan Salihamidžić is sought, however, the club had only recently hired Christoph Freund as a new sports director. According to reports, Hoeneß holds Eberl in high esteem. The 50-year-old had gone through the complete youth of FC Bayern as a player and played a Bundesliga game for the club in 1991.
The Leipzigers had separated this week from Eberl, who was only signed in December 2022, because they criticized the "lack of commitment" in the native of Lower Bavaria. According to dpa information, this was about repeated hesitant commitments to RB Leipzig. Hoeneß wanted to pilot Eberl already some years ago to Munich.
