Sergey Hernandez has long been a key player at SCM and in the Spanish national team. The contract extension is a logical step.

Sergey Hernandez will remain goalkeeper at German handball Bundesliga club SC Magdeburg next season. The German champions have extended their contract with the Spaniard by one year until June 30, 2026. The Russian-born 29-year-old has been playing for SCM since 2023 and has developed into a reliable regular in recent years.

"We are happy to have clarified this personnel matter for the coming season at an early stage. He has developed into a key player in the SCM team in recent months and was consequently nominated as one of the regular goalkeepers for the Spanish national team for the World Cup," said SCM coach and managing director of sport, Bennet Wiegert.
