The appeal after the draw in the top match against the Foxes is not causing any excitement at SCM. However, coach Wiegert would like to see a change in the spirit of fairness.

The SC Magdeburg handball team are not fazed by the appeal lodged by Füchse Berlin after the Bundesliga top match. "I haven't wasted any energy on it at all and am totally relaxed," said SCM coach Bennet Wiegert.

The 42-year-old emphasized that it was the right of every team to use this means and that his team had already done so several times. "I'm unemotional and have perceived it passively. But I can basically understand this dissatisfaction."

The Berliners had criticized several decisions by the referees after the 31:31 on Sunday and complained, among other things, that a goal by Lasse Andersson in the 39th minute had not been awarded. Due to the lack of goal-line technology in the HBL, the referees had made a factual decision out of the game and ruled "no goal".

"If the referee is not one hundred percent sure at that moment, he can't whistle on feeling. In that respect, I almost feel a bit sorry for them now," said Wiegert about the problem and expressed his wish for a technical change, such as the one already used by the European Handball Federation (EHF) at major tournaments. "Anything that leads to more fairness and clarity can only help us. But that is of course a question of cost and implementation."

"Tough week, tough points"

Despite the winter break in the Champions League, the champions will continue with a tight schedule this week. On Wednesday, VfL Gummersbach (7.00 p.m.) will visit the Elbe, followed by a clash with the Rhein-Neckar-Löwen in Mannheim on Sunday (2.20 p.m./both on Dyn). "It's a tough week, with tough points at stake," said the Head Coach, summarizing the tasks ahead.

The 42-year-old can rely on the same squad as in Berlin, where the recently injured German internationals Philipp Weber and Tim Hornke were again left out of the squad. "We'll try to introduce them again by giving them a measured share of the game. They'll gradually be able to help us again," said Wiegert.
