Cesc Fàbregas is unlikely to become the new coach of RB Leipzig. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports on X that the Spanish former world champion will also be at Como 1907 next season. The 37-year-old is already planning the squad for next season with the club management of the promoted team in the Italian Serie A. In addition to Bundesliga club Leipzig, Italian clubs are also interested in Fàbregas.
The former Arsenal, Chelsea and FC Barcelona professional is considered a top candidate for the coaching position in Leipzig alongside Oliver Glasner of Crystal Palace. Current incumbent Zsolt Löw is only intended as a temporary solution following the departure of Marco Rose and is set to return to the staff of global head of soccer Jürgen Klopp at the end of the season.
Leipzig would have to pay a transfer fee for both Fàbregas and Glasner. If no agreement can be reached with either of the candidates, media reports suggest that an attempt could still be made to convince Löw to stay. The decisive factor would probably also be whether the 45-year-old can qualify for the Champions League with the club. Leipzig currently occupy fourth place in the Bundesliga.
