The handball Bundesliga match between ThSV Eisenach and DHfK Leipzig will not be replayed after Leipzig lodged a protest and the appeal was rejected.

The game in the German Handball League between ThSV Eisenach and DHfK Leipzig does not have to be replayed following a ruling by the Second Chamber of the Federal Sports Court of the German Handball Federation (DHB). Leipzig had lodged a protest against the scoring of the game (24:25) on December 8, 2023, but the appeal was rejected. Leipzig accepted the decision, as the club announced on Wednesday.

With 71 seconds remaining in the game, the clock ran for another six seconds during a timeout at 25:24 in favor of Eisenach. Leipzig gained possession two seconds before the final buzzer and would have had a better chance of equalizing with six seconds more.

The court had allowed DHfK's objection and found a breach of the rules. In the ruling, the appeal has now been rejected, as according to the court there was no unambiguity in the criterion "decisive for the game", as both clubs announced on Wednesday. The two clubs will meet again in two weeks' time in the league match in Leipzig.
