Premiere for Leipzig: On April 24, the City of Leipzig's market office is inviting people to the first Leipzig evening market in front of the Old Town Hall in the city center. From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., visitors can try out the combination of evening fresh produce shopping, culinary delights and entertainment.
Around 40 traders will offer everyone who comes to store after work the fresh produce that is usually available during the day on Tuesdays and Fridays. Among them are many new vendors who are not normally on the market. You can also enjoy a glass of wine or punch at the end of the day. From sweet to savory, several traders also offer culinary delights from all over the world. For families, the games mobile of the Office for Youth and Family and the book mobile of the municipal libraries are on site.
The concept of the evening market provides for a monthly date on the fourth Thursday in the warm half of the year. There will be further evening markets this year on May 22, June 26, July 24 and August 28. The weekly markets on Tuesdays and Fridays are not affected by the change and will continue to be open during the usual opening hours. Simply extending these to a later date was not an option, as working hours do not permit this and there are not enough supplies for such a long day.
