A 38-year-old driver from Saxony was killed in an accident on the A38 near the Halle-Süd interchange. According to the current state of investigation, he had hit a mobile home on Monday afternoon, the police announced in Halle in the evening. The driver of the motorhome then lost control of his vehicle, which turned, left the roadway and crashed into the guardrail.
The two occupants of the motorhome - a 60-year-old and a 61-year-old - were seriously injured and taken to surrounding hospitals, as it was further said. The driver of the car died at the scene. In the camper was a dog, which was handed over with light injuries to the animal rescue.
The highway was fully closed around the accident site in the direction of Leipzig. Salvage and cleaning lasted until about 19:50. Then the direction of travel Leipzig could be released again. On the detour routes, it was in the meantime to considerable traffic obstructions.
