Truck tire bursts on A4: one dead and five injured

A woman has died in a serious traffic accident on the Autobahn 4 near Gotha. The 32-year-old succumbed to her injuries in hospital, as the police announced on Friday morning. Two people were seriously injured and three others were slightly injured in the accident in the direction of Dresden.

The cause of the accident was a burst tire on the left rear axle of a truck that was driving in the right-hand lane of the three lanes. According to the information provided, large tire parts flew onto the road and landed in the middle lane. Six cars following behind crashed into each other as a result of braking and evasive maneuvers. The highway was closed for around three hours. An expert was called in.
