Alpine rocker Andreas Gabalier defied all weather conditions on Saturday evening with around 30,000 fans in Dresden and ensured a full Rudolf Harbig Stadium. Although numerous events in the Saxon state capital were canceled due to severe weather warnings, the concert at the venue of third division soccer club Dynamo Dresden went ahead as planned. For three hours, Gabalier and his band played their own hits and also delighted the audience with a musical homage to the hard rockers from AC/DC and Tina Turner. The funeral song "Amoi seg ma uns wieda" ("One day we'll see each other again") was also played. Gabalier used it to remember his sister, among others, who died in 2008.
The concert organizer Semmel Concerts had given the green light for the show on Friday and recommended that people wear warm, weatherproof clothing. In the end, the feared heavy rain turned out to be a normal shower. In any case, it did nothing to dampen the mood in the stadium. The 39-year-old Austrian said that the "dear sky father" had been quite kind to the band and the audience. They had already been extremely lucky with the weather on Friday in Oberhof. But it didn't matter at all. "We've played the most turbulent rain concerts in the last 12 or 13 years. It's folk rock'n'roll and not a TV show," said Gabalier and thanked the audience for a "full house".
As is usual at Gabalier concerts, most of the female visitors came to the show in dirndls, while many men wore lederhosen. The audience proved themselves to be lyrically confident during songs such as "Superstar" and thanked the musicians in their own way - with the chant "Oh, how beautiful it is". Gabalier is expected to perform in Munich's Olympic Stadium on June 22.
