According to bus associations, the introduction of the Deutschlandticket is a fare revolution. Now they are also calling for a supply revolution. Especially in the countryside.

After the introduction of the Deutschlandticket, bus companies in central Germany are also hoping for an expansion of services, especially in rural areas. In Thuringia, for example, many expectations have been raised that services in rural areas will be expanded, according to the chairman of the Association of Central German Bus Companies, Mario König. Ultimately, however, there has not yet been an additional euro from the state coffers. Things need to improve, especially when it comes to inter-district transport. "Where there is a federal road, there must also be public transport," said Tilman Wagenknecht, Managing Director of the association.

The Deutschlandticket, which currently costs 49 euros a month, allows passengers to use regional and local buses and trains throughout Germany. On Wednesday and Thursday, representatives of bus companies will meet in Halle (Saale) for the Central German Bus Conference to discuss the future of bus transport.
