Morpheus Space manufactures drives for satellites in the state capital. The company wants to meet the growing demand with the new factory.

The satellite propulsion manufacturer Morpheus Space has opened a new factory in Dresden. The company announced that 100 units of a new electric propulsion system are to be produced there each year. "One of the biggest issues facing satellite operators today is the limited supply of available propulsion systems," said Kevin Lausten, President of Morpheus Space, according to the press release. The company intends to meet this growing demand by scaling up production.

Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) congratulated the company at the opening. He was delighted with this success, he said. "For us in Saxony, it's a huge stroke of luck: space travel from Dresden." Digitalization, security, the environment, climate protection - all of this is only possible with high technology.

The new factory produces the GO-2 propulsion system, a so-called modular field emission propulsion system that offers uninterrupted mobility during satellite missions. From the first orbit to re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere, it enables all maneuvers and represents an important step forward for the industry, said Lausten.

Morpheus Space was founded in 2018 and is Saxony's largest space company, according to the State Chancellery.
