A pile-up caused hours of delays on the A9 towards Munich on Saturday. The reason was a car changing lanes and its consequences.

Following an accident with three injuries, the A9 highway near Leipzig in the direction of Munich was closed for more than six hours. A rescue helicopter landed there after the car of a 37-year-old man collided with a moving car while changing lanes near the Schkeuditzer Kreuz junction. As a result, the car skidded into a crash barrier and overturned, the second car touched the crash barrier opposite.

Both drivers and a passenger were injured, the 33-year-old and the 62-year-old in the car were taken to hospital and the 37-year-old was treated as an outpatient. According to the police, the total damage caused is estimated at around 50,000 euros. The road was not clear again until late in the evening.
