Saxony's universities receive seven billion euros in basic funding for the years 2025 to 2032. Grant agreement signed.

Saxony's universities will receive seven billion euros in basic funding for the years 2025 to 2032. The corresponding grant agreement was concluded on Wednesday with the signatures of Minister President Michael Kretschmer, Science Minister Sebastian Gemkow, Finance Minister Hartmut Vorjohann and the rectors of the 14 state universities in the Free State, as announced by the State Chancellery.

"With the grant agreement, we are creating the basis for our universities and colleges to continue to be successful in national and international competition," said Kretschmer. Saxony's science is the foundation for innovative strength and competitiveness as well as the economic strength and attractiveness of the Free State. Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht, Chairman of the State Rectors' Conference, thanked the state government for the planning security that the agreement gives the universities.

In addition to wage and salary increases, the agreement also includes funds for special tasks, such as the fight against the shortage of skilled workers, digitalization in teaching and administration, sustainable campus development and technology transfer. They will grow over the term from 5 million in 2025 to 30 million annually in 2028 to 2032.
