Crafts, Christmas stollen, Herrnhut stars - Saxony's Christmas markets will be inviting visitors to stroll around again from next Monday. The markets in Meissen and Zwickau will open on Monday, as announced by the Ministry of Tourism. Saxony's Tourism Minister Barbara Klepsch (CDU) will be handing out stollen to visitors in Meissen on Monday together with Mayor Markus Renner.
According to Klepsch, the markets are part of the identity of many people in Saxony: "Saxony is the Christmas state in Germany in terms of tourism and our Christmas markets attract thousands of visitors from near and far to the Free State every year," explained the Minister according to the press release.
On Tuesday, the Christmas markets in Leipzig, Plauen, the Freiberg Christmas market and the Pirna Canaletto market will open their doors, according to the statement. The Dresden Striezelmarkt follows on Wednesday, the Chemnitz Christmas market, the Wenzelsmarkt Bautzen, the Silesian Christmas market in Görlitz and the Annaberg Christmas market on Friday.
