Locks in Leipzig open for water hikers

Water hikers can use the locks in Leipzig again from April 1. In the months of April and October, the Connewitz and Cospuden locks will be in operation from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm, the city announced. From May to September, the hydraulic structures can be used from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Around 24,500 smuggled boats were counted last year. Almost all of them (97.8 percent) were paddle boats. The 2.2 percent of smuggled motorboats were mostly passenger ships.
