Every year, the gourmet guide "Gault&Millau" selects the best restaurants nationwide and regionally. In Saxony, the testers have identified two newcomers.

The "Stadtpfeiffer" in Leipzig and the "Juwel" in the Hotel Schumanns in Kirschau are in the new edition of the famous restaurant guide "Gault&Millau". The testers awarded them three toques each, certifying them as having a "high degree of culinary artistry, creativity and quality", and in the case of the Leipzig restaurant, an "Outstanding" in red.

Two black toques were awarded to the "Heiderand" in Dresden for very good cuisine that goes beyond the ordinary and one black toque for "ambitious cuisine" to the "Imperil" in Leipzig. Both were newly added to the list.

27 restaurants nationwide in the gourmet guide

The "Atelier Sanssouci" in Radebeul, the "Frieda" and the "Kuultivo" in Leipzig as well as the "St. Andreas" in Aue-Bad Schlema are also listed as outstanding with two red toques each. Four restaurants received two black toques.

The critics see "ambitious cuisine" in a further 15 restaurants in Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz, but also outside of these, such as the "Lazy Laurich" in Pirna, the "Erbgericht Tautewalde" in Wilthen and the "Westphalenhof" in Hoyerswerda.

The "Gault&Millau" and the "Guide Michelin" are among the best-known gourmet guides in the world. The book by food critics Henri Gault and Christian Millau was first published in France in 1969, the first German edition was published in 1983, followed ten years later by the "Weinguide Deutschland".
