The exploratory talks for a possible coalition between the CDU, the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) and the SPD in Saxony are continuing. After the SPD suspended talks on Friday, the leaders of the three parties agreed to continue. "The voting behavior in the plenum as well as misunderstandings in dealing with each other were addressed and cleared up," the parties announced in a joint statement.
Last Friday, the majority of BSW MPs in the state parliament had approved a motion by the AfD to set up a parliamentary committee of inquiry into the coronavirus pandemic. This was met with incomprehension, particularly from the SPD. The BSW had already spoken out in favor of such a committee during the election campaign and had also tabled a motion itself, but this did not receive a majority. The exploratory talks are now to continue in working groups until November 7.
