The Free Voters in Saxony see themselves caught between the CDU and the AfD. They have now determined their list of candidates for the Bundestag elections.

The Free Voters (FW) in Saxony are entering the Bundestag election campaign with a dual leadership. At a special party conference in Leipzig, FW state leader Thomas Weidinger and opera singer Madelaine Vogt were elected to first and second place on the state list, the party announced. "We want to make people a political offer so that they can vote for something again and not constantly against something," it said.

For Weidinger, the Free Voters find themselves "in the political field of tension between the CDU and AfD". "We stand in the middle class for a policy of reason and cooperation. Our position is clear: we firmly reject both an escalation of the war in Ukraine through the Taurus deliveries advocated by the CDU and an exit from the EU as propagated by the AfD. Both would severely damage Germany economically and politically."
