Celebrities are not only raising their voices in the US election campaign. The Saxon Left Party has received support from two prominent singers.

Saxony's Left Party can count on vocal support in the election campaign. Singer-songwriter Konstantin Wecker speaks out in favor of top candidate Susanne Schaper. "We are once again living in times when we really have to pay attention: More and more countries, cities, municipalities and regions in Europe are being ruled by fascists and racists. And more and more conservatives are making pacts with right-wing parties to maintain their own power," reads a statement by Wecker. "Each and every individual and all of us together must therefore get involved now to keep democracy alive." This requires courageous people - also in parliaments.

Wecker praised Schaper for her commitment. "As a trained nurse, she is committed to a solidarity-based healthcare system for all people, is a strong advocate for the hospice movement, for international solidarity, social justice for all people and is active against fascism." He will not stop dreaming of a "world free of domination, war and fascism, a world without borders, patriarchy, racism, oppression and the exploitation of people and nature."

Krumbiegel: "Vote democratically, people - that's what it's all about."

"Prinzen" singer Sebastian Krumbiegel is supporting the candidacy of Juliane Nagel (Left Party) in his home town of Leipzig. He knows her well and holds her in high regard. "Even though I am social democratically socialized, it would be a great loss for all of us if she were to miss out on re-entering the Saxon parliament. Vote democratically, people - that's what it's all about."

A request to other parties initially revealed no support from the ranks of prominent artists.
