The dykes in Strehla were damaged during the June floods in 2013. Now the town is better protected again.

About eleven years after the severe flooding of 2013, the renovation of the Elbe dykes in Strehla in the district of Meißen has been completed. This means that the town is once again protected from a flood that statistically can occur once every 100 years, according to the state dam administration.

The dykes in the districts of Lößnig and Trebnitz were damaged in 2013. The repairs cost almost 4.3 million euros. As soon as the vegetation has grown on the dykes, temporarily relocated sand lizards will also be able to return there.
