Saxons are notoriously vaccine-hungry. This is also evident when it comes to coronavirus. The immunization rate is unchanged - but a few more people have boosters.

Saxony is still at the bottom of the league nationwide when it comes to immunization against corona. According to the Robert Koch Institute's (RKI) vaccination monitoring, 66.3% of the population had been vaccinated at least once as of the beginning of July - the same percentage as a year ago. Nationwide, the figure is currently 78.1 percent. In terms of second vaccinations and first boosters, the Free State is also at the bottom of the league in a national comparison.

Only an increase in those vaccinated four times

According to the latest survey, 65.1% of the population is still immunized and has therefore received their first and second vaccinations. At 50.7 percent, just over half have had their first booster, while the rate of quadruple vaccination is 9.7 percent - an increase of six percent. Almost 2.7 million people have received the basic vaccination, over 2.05 million people have received a booster and around 392,000 have received a further booster. According to the RKI, a total of almost seven million vaccine doses have been administered nationwide so far.
