Millions were vaccinated against coronavirus and experienced mild side effects. Some suffered permanent damage. However, only a few cases have been recognized in Saxony so far.

In Saxony, 28 cases of vaccination damage as a result of corona vaccinations have been recognized so far. As of July 22, a total of 709 applications for compensation had been registered, according to the Saxony Municipal Social Association (KSV). Of these, 624 were approved. A further 11 proceedings were settled in other ways - for example because the place of vaccination was not in Saxony.

A statistical survey of the amount of compensation already paid as a result is not possible. According to the information, claims for compensation were rejected in 596 cases due to a lack of causal connection between the health problems claimed and the Covid-19 vaccination. Accordingly, 74 cases are still being processed.

Millions of vaccinations in Saxony

According to the Free State of Saxony, more than 7.6 million coronavirus vaccinations have been administered since the end of 2020. Financial support is available if a health disorder resulting from a vaccination is recognized. Up to a duration of six months, a temporary disorder is assumed, thereafter a permanent one. People can apply for recognition of vaccine damage and compensation if they are still complaining of health problems six months after the vaccination.

Health problems that can be recognized as vaccine damage include myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle), thrombosis or transverse myelitis, a rare neuroimmunological disease that causes inflammation of the spinal cord.
