Handball Bundesliga club SC DHfK Leipzig has extended the contract with playmaker Andri Runarsson, which was due to expire at the end of the season, by two years. As the club announced on Wednesday evening, the 21-year-old will remain with the club until 2026. The son of DHfK head coach Runar Sigtryggsson moved to Leipzig this summer from Icelandic runners-up Haukar Hafnarfjörður and has already demonstrated his great potential so far this season. The young Icelander has scored 18 goals this season.
For Rúnarsson, the new contract means much more than just an extension - after all, he learned his handball skills in the youth section of SC DHfK and feels very much at home at the club.
