The volleyball players of Dresdner SC have continued their winning streak. Coach Alexander Waibl's team won 3:2 (25:20, 24:26, 19:24, 25:21, 15:10) against VfB Suhl Lotto Thüringen in the Bundesliga on Saturday after a tough battle. It was their sixth success in a row in all competitions.

The Dresden side got off to a focused start in front of 2,908 spectators and fought an open exchange of blows with the visitors from the outset. Dresden was repeatedly able to win the long rallies. Suhl fought its way back after the first technical timeout, with diagonal attacker Marie Hänle in particular (32 points in total) overcoming her opponents' block several times. However, the DSC did not fail to respond, scored very variably from a stable reception and the block and court defense also stood firm.

The two teams gave each other nothing in the second half either. The Elbe club had already built up an 18:13 lead, which they let slip. Suhl improved in the block and fended off two set points from the DSC women via Hänle and the diagonal attacker, who was still helping out in Dresden last season, then took the first chance for VfB.

The visitors took this momentum with them and clearly dictated the action in the third period. Suhl was already 20:16 in front in the fourth set, but Dresden then fought its way into the tie-break, also thanks to a series of serves by Sarah Straube, in which the DSC women had the greater reserves, offered better solutions in attack and a strong block defense.
