Saxony's adult education centers are to adapt even better to people with a health handicap. This is the aim of a target agreement signed in Dresden between the Adult Education Association and partners from various social associations. In his capacity as President of the Adult Education Association, Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) said that the educational institutions would make their facilities and offers even more inclusive.
In concrete terms, it is about equipping adult education centers with disabled toilets and using additional technology to ensure that people with hearing impairments can also take part in courses, for example. It is not just about access for wheelchair users, but also for the visually impaired or people with cognitive deficits, it was said. The umbrella association wants all 15 adult education centers in Saxony to join the agreement.
Agreement should inspire imitation
According to Kretschmer, solidarity, charity and warmth in a society are expressed above all in how society treats people who are disadvantaged. When meeting those affected and visiting facilities, he is always moved by the love and charity shown there. The agreement encourages imitation. "Inclusion is successful when it is a matter of course."
