Ahead of the start of the summer vacations in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, the federal highway company Autobahn GmbH has announced that it will refrain from using avoidable daily roadworks at certain times. At weekends and at the beginning and end of the vacations, this is intended to reduce the risk of traffic jams, Autobahn GmbH announced on Tuesday. However, there is still an increased risk of congestion at longer roadworks.
Autobahn GmbH advises avoiding journeys on Fridays between 3 and 5 p.m. and on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., for example, as traffic density is likely to be higher at these times. On the main traffic routes, there is currently a higher risk of congestion due to roadworks on the A2 between Magdeburg and the Hannover-Ost junction and on the A4 between the Nossen junction and the Polish border.
In Thuringia and Saxony, the summer vacations begin next Thursday (20 June). June), in Saxony-Anhalt on Monday (June 24).
