Train passengers must be prepared for detour, cancellations and replacement services. Construction work on the electronic signal box (ESTW)

This weekend, train travelers must be prepared for detour, cancellations, replacement bus services and changes in travel times due to construction work at Dresden Central Station. Deutsche Bahn (DB) announced on Tuesday that the electronic signal box (ESTW) will be switched off between 4.00 a.m. this Saturday and 4.00 a.m. on Sunday, which is why no trains will be able to run at the station during this time. The reason for this is the expansion of the ESTW, including the expansion of the power supply. Work on this had already begun last year and the measures are now being completed.

According to DB, suburban, regional and long-distance trains will be affected. A comprehensive replacement transport concept has been prepared and timetable changes are already available in advance, for example in the DB app and on the DB website. ICE and IC trains as well as local services between Dresden-Neustadt and Dresden Hauptbahnhof will be canceled. Passengers should use replacement streetcar lines on this route and buses on some sections. EC trains will be canceled between Dresden-Neustadt and Decin in the Czech Republic and will be replaced by buses to Usti nad Labem. Additional service personnel will be deployed to support passengers.

The next step in the expansion of the ESTW is reportedly due in June. New components such as points and signals, which are necessary for rail operations during the construction work on the crossing structure, will then be integrated during a software change.
