The Saxon state government wants to reduce the number of road deaths and serious injuries in Saxony to zero. To this end, it is now strengthening the work of the road safety organization.

The Ministry of Transport is supporting Verkehrswacht Sachsen with over half a million euros this year. The funding will go towards road safety education in schools and kindergartens, among other things, according to the ministry. Adults are also to be trained. A total of 14 measures are being funded.

According to Transport Minister Regina Kraushaar (CDU), the government's goal is to avoid any more road deaths in Saxony, which is why there is a clear focus on expanding prevention work: "Even if the number of accidents is fortunately continuing to fall, every traffic accident is one too many."

According to the Minister, the Saxony Road Safety Authority, with its 23 local, district and regional road safety organizations and over 1,000 volunteer members, has been doing dedicated and continuous work for road safety in the Free State of Saxony for 35 years.
